‘Both Mark Schauer and John Dingell have earned new terms’

The Toledo Blade, one of America’s great newspapers, said it best today: “Both Mark Schauer and John Dingell have earned new terms.”

The endorsement offers a very good question on why his opponent, “Robert Steele, an Ann Arbor cardiologist, is rich enough to have poured considerable assets into his campaign,” is qualified to run for office:

“Mr. Steele offers the curious argument that he should be elected because he is a newcomer who knows nothing about politics. How would he feel about a would-be cardiologist who made a similar claim?”

Good question. The clear choice is U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, for re-election.

The editorial also makes an excellent case for re-electing U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer, D-Battle Creek.

“That outcome was partly due to President Obama's statewide victory. But it also happened because Mr. Schauer, a devout Methodist with moderate stands on most issues, was far more representative of the district than Mr. Walberg, who pursued a hard-right social agenda.”

Mark Schauer has earned re-election? Let's see, claiming he read a bill that nobody else in the country read before it was voted on and in which it was humanly impossible for him to read before it was voted on makes him a liar. Ok, yes, if your standard is to have liars in office, then Schauer has earned another term.
His district, by 2-1, was against that stimulus bill. But he's deserved another term.

He voted for Cap and Tax. This, like the stimulus bill was not wanted by a majority of the American people, and again 2-1 against in his district, but he deserves another term? Hmmm

He voted for the takeover of the American health care system. His district was against this bill 3-1, but he still voted for it. But he deserves another term? Hmmm.

When people started questioning their representatives at town hall meetings last summer, the Socialist Democrats ran scared and quit holding town halls. Instead, in Schauers case, he started holding meetings with select groups, like unions, or hospitals with doctors and nurses that had stated they were in favor of his positions and called them town halls. The only thing that could be close to a town hall that he held, was a phone in town hall where he pre-screened the quesstions so that he didn't have to deal with the concerns of those that had legitimate questions and he excluded a large portion of his district from being able to participate even in hearing the call. But he deserves re-election? Hmm.

Only in the past few weeks has Schauer joined the group of Democrats now calling for the Bush tax cuts to be extended on all Americans. He sees the writing on the wall and knows he's likely to be job hunting come November.

Finally, Schauer is in a Republican district. He's only in office because of the apathy of most Republicans in his district, and by latching on to Obama's coattails, and then barely won election. Yet Walberg is too far to the right according to you.

Schauer is going to be on the losing side of a blowout in November. The only reason other than you being a non tolerant partisan for you to put this stuff on here is likely because the socialist Democrats in Michigan are paying you (or they know you're an intolerant partisan and don't bother to pay you but feed you their crap anyway).

You're out of touch and it's going to be fun to watch in November as you spin the huge losses you'll suffer through.

Snyder is going to win big, Walberg is going to win big and we could see anywhere from 60-80 new Republican seats in the House. The only question is whether the Republicans will take control of the Senate.

Michigan sees sharpest income plunge in nation
Mike Wilkinson / The Detroit News
For most families in Michigan, the long-running recession has meant a simple, unrelenting truth: living with less. And census data released on Tuesday shows how much less -- the state's median household income fell by more than $12,000 over the last decade -- the equivalent of trimming $1,000 from a family's monthly budget.

The drop was stunning in both its size and its singularity: No other state came close to losing the estimated 21.3 percent of its median income between 2000 and 2009, and no state endured the 6.5 percent drop seen from 2008 to 2009.

That is correct, anonymous coward, Mark Schauer has earned re-election, along with John Dingell, but that’s not just me saying that.

I have no idea what you are talking about, and neither do you, anonymous coward.

There is no such thing as “cap and tax,” and clearly the majority of American people do want both the stimulas and the cap and trade, especially when you consider the stimulus averted disaster and halted the Bush Recession from becoming the Bush Depression.

There is no such thing as a “takeover of the American health care system,” and if you are referring to health care insurance reform, it was very clear where Mark stood on that when he kicked Wahlberg’s ass. Yes, he deserves re-election

Once again, anonymous coward, there is no such thing as a Socialist Democrat in the United States, and that is just a false, Republican smear.

As for the townhall meetings, the only people holding them were Democrats. Where were the scared Republicans? The Democrats did it despite, loud, racist teabaggers like you trying to drown out what they had to say. Yes, he deserves re-election.

He’s wrong on the Bush tax cuts, and before we give the rich any more breaks, I would just as soon we do what Bush intended and do nothing and pay more taxes.

“He's only in office because of the apathy of most Republicans in his district?” Wow, nice try and re-writing history. He won because of the Bush recession and Republicans corruption.

I’ve said it a hundred times, but I’ll say it again because you are so dumb, anonymous coward: the Democrats will lose seats like almost every party in the White House does, but the party that represents the people will retain the House and Senate.

Once again, anonymous coward, there is no such thing as a Socialist Democrat in the United States, and that is just a false, Republican smear.

That wasn’t me saying they deserve reelection, it was the conservative Toledo Blade. I just agree.

If I was a “non-tolerant partisan,” I wouldn’t let a proven liar like you continue to post.

No one is paying me for this: I just love my country.

Again, anonymous coward, I’m still waiting for you to back up your outrageous lie that we were “nearly shoulder to shoulder once.”

First, “sundance,” I have no idea who you are talking about. None of those people you mentioned exist.

Here are the key words in the Detroit News article you linked to, “For most families in Michigan, the long-running recession.” That would be the Bush Recession; the longest and deepest since the Great Depression.

If not for President Obama, we could have been in a depression that may have made the Great Depression look like good times.

Wrong again. I have read the Blade since I was a kid, and my brother even had a Toledo Blade paper route. They are an excellent newspaper for being a member of the conservative, corporate media. They are an excellent newspaper because they are a union paper.

Wrong again. You continue to blame the wrong person though I think he belongs in prison along with those mentioned in the wall street journal...

bush inherited the dot com crash that started the recession then 9/11 happened.

pelosi and reid and the demoRATS that took control in 2007 have done the most damage and continue to do so.

Wrong again.

The simple fact is Bush walked in with a budget surplus and turned it into a huge, huge deficit. The only thing Bush inherited was a budget surplus and a healthy economy. I know you are doing your best to rewrite history and Bush takes responsibility for nothing, but the fact is he created the Bush recession; the longest and deepest since the Great Depression.

The fact is Obama has already decreased the Bush deficit, not to mention stopping the country from slipping into a depression, and he lifted the country out of the recession.

There is no such thing as a “demoRATS” genius.

Perhaps you can tell me what this has to do with Steele not being qualified for public office.

dingell is not qualified if for no other reason than having said this..."When a teabagger says they're gonna take the country back… we're not gonna let ‘em," declares Dingell. So he feels that the political elite should ram down our throats what ever bills they want to, that they do not have to represent us but that they are above us. Tea party members, independants...i.e.Americans want their country back.

dingell is experienced at what has crushed our future and what has driven our country into massive debt.

dingell is an old man, washed up, out of touch and we need new blood

What then makes Rob Steele qualifed...in his own words..."I have the experience of creating jobs, creating a business, and being somebody who's had to make their way."

Communications guru said...

I don’t know if Congressman Dingell said that, but I hope so. He is 100 percent correct if he did. The teabaggers are a small, racist fringe of the Republican Party financed, initially, by the insurance lobby.

No one is ramming anything down anyone’s throat. If you are talking about health insurance reform, the majority of Americans support that.

What has “crushed our future and what has driven our country into massive debt” was the Bush Recession, the longest and deepest since the Great Depression. I also disagree with you on our future; this country’s future has not been crushed; unless tea baggers get any power.

What Steele is experienced at is making himself rich with the help of a broken health care system he doesn’t want fixed.

Tell you what, “sundancer,” give me one example of Steele donating any of his time to a free clinic or to someone with no health insurance. Just one.

The only person out of touch is Steele.

"What Steele is experienced at is making himself rich with the help of a broken health care system he doesn’t want fixed."

What a totally stupid statement.
So is every doctor in America guilty of making a profit helping their patients?

Of course then dingell is experienced at making himself rich in a broken gov't system. Shame on him.

"The teabaggers are a small, racist fringe of the Republican Party financed, initially, by the insurance lobby."

More stupiity from you. Tea party members are racist??? Based on what?

Communications guru said...

I agree with you, that Steele is experienced at is making himself rich with the help of a broken health care system he doesn’t want fixed.

There is nothing wrong with making a profit, but the problem is he’s out of touch with regular people from making huge profits from a broken health care system he doesn’t want fixed while making the false claim that Congressman Dingell is out of touch because of his age.

I’m still waiting for you to give me one example of Steele donating any of his time to a free clinic or to someone with no health insurance. Just one.

Who said Congressman Dingell is rich? The fact is he and his wife have good jobs, and I would assume over the years he saved and invested well. My grandfather passed away with a good savings account and he worked in a paper mill. Thrift goes a long way.

How is Congressman Dingell “experienced at making himself rich in a broken gov't system?”

Again we agree; the teabaggers are a small, racist fringe of the Republican Party financed, initially, by the insurance lobby.

Apparently you were not any of the “rallies” with the racist signs. On this blog you can find articles on the “rallies” being promoted by white supremacists. Bus tours and rallies were financed by two Washington, D.C. lobbying firms, “Americans for Prosperity” and “freedom works.” You can also read about that on this blog.

Actually we don't agree on anything. All u have to offer is opinions which everyone has one and assumptions which are wrong. Where are your facts.

Communications guru said...

We don’t? But you said all Steele is experienced at is making himself rich with the help of a broken health care system he doesn’t want fixed, and that the teabaggers are a small, racist fringe of the Republican Party financed, initially, by the insurance lobby. I agree with that because it’s true.

I do offer opinions, but they are backed up by facts.

I’m still waiting for you to give me one example of Steele donating any of his time to a free clinic or to someone with no health insurance. Just one.

U said it and i quoted u asking u what u base it on. I did not say it. Ur like dingell who doesn't read the bills. u don't read and understand ur own blog.
Still waiting for your proof.

What are you, a 13-year-old girl in a chat room? Try putting a complete sentence together with real words. You said, “What Steele is experienced at is making himself rich with the help of a broken health care system he doesn’t want fixed." I agreed. Of course Congressman Dingell read the bill, and I will read any bill before I vote on it.

Still waiting for my proof of what?
