Schauer launches campaign web site

As the campaign season gets underway, U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer, D-Battle Creek, has launched a new campaign web site as he gets set to defend his 7th District seat against the same rightwing extremist he took the seat from in 2008.

You can read the latest news about the campaign, sound off on the issues, make an online contribution, watch videos, find events in your community and learn more about how you can help Schauer fight for Michigan jobs.

“I'm committed to getting our economy back on track, but I can't do it alone,” Schauer said. “While my extreme opponents were busy attacking each other in the local news last week, I was busy introducing a bipartisan bill to stop wasting U.S. tax dollars on goods that create jobs in China.”

Schauer plans to introduce legislation to ban China from doing business with the U.S. government until the Chinese government allows American companies the same opportunity.

Anyone that gives a standing ovation to a President from another country when that President is trashing this country in front of joint session of Congress, is not deserving of a vote from any American.

Schauer did exactly that. He gave a standing ovation to President Calderon who was calling the Americans racist.

It doesn't matter if the guy was right or wrong in his criticism. He was a guest here and berated the United States citizens in our halls. Schauer rose to his feet, along with the rest of the Socialist Democrats, and applauded Calderon for that.

Schauer and the rest of the Socialist Democrats don't deserve even one vote after that, let alone a campaign for more than one vote.

That must be the latest false Republican talking point making the rounds of the rightwing blogs. I’m so surprised and disappointed you’re not going to vote for a Democrat, anonymous.

Schauer is a Democrat; not a “Socialist Democrat.” In fact, there is no such thing as a “Socialist Democrat” in this country, and that is just one more false, fascist Republican talking point.

Democrats will do fine in November. You should have watched the Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference today in Lansing where economists were saying the economy is improving in both the state on the national level. The Republicans on the House and Senate Appropriations Committee were not happy. I guess good news for the country is bad news for them.

A foriegn leader comes here, enters the people's house and calls you a racist and you want to talk about what a great economy we have?

14% unemployment in this state. 9.9% unemployment nationwide, and you think the economy is improving? Amazing that you'd talk the economy rather than Obama apologizing again to another foriegn leader for America and then feeding him and then letting him go to the Capitol and telling us we're racists, you Socialist Democrats standing and giving that pig an ovation is completely ignored or called a false talking point. You deserve a Schauer. The Socialist Democrat scum should stick together. God knows the nation isn't behind them. That's what you'll discover in November, if the socialist Democrats don't destroy the country before then.

Yes, I do want to talk about a great economy we have, and again, anonymous, I’m not buying into your false talking point. I never said we had a great economy. I said it was improving, and that is a fact.

No, economists at the University of Michigan, the nonpartisan House Fiscal Agency and the nonpartisan Senate Fiscal Agency think the economy is improving. Do you know why, anonymous? Because they have facts to back it up.

Once again, anonymous, there is no such thing as a “socialist Democrat” in this country, and that is just a false, fascist Republican talking point. You are correct, we do deserve Congressman Schauer, and that’s why voters of the 7th District elected him in 2008 and will again in November.

This country survived the worst recession since the Great Depression under Bush. It must kill you that the country is coming out of the recession.

Oh well, if 470,000 jobless claims per week is something you're happy about, then you're easily satisfied with others pain.

I see you've accepted the talking points of it being the worst recession since the depression. The worst recession was the one Carter created. Double digit inflation, double digit interest rates and double digit unemployment. That was the worst since the Depression. But, you're more interested in the false points put out by Socialist White House.

I just think it's hilarious that you claim Calderons words are a false talking point. It's only been broadcast on the networks, and replayed twice so far on C-Span. But I don't blame you for ignoring it. What this Socialist White House is doing to this country is embarrassing, but not unexpected.

Doubled the debt, quadrupled the deficit. I completely understand how Socialist Democrats like yourself have to hide your heads in the sand.

Oh Not anonymous shut the fuck up, you didn't care about the unemployment rate when Bush was president so why are you now?

Oh yeah that's right there's a Democrat in the White House, when Bush was nose diving this economy you guys on the right were saying how dare you talk down the economy.

The economy is improving and you guys hate that because that's one issue you don't have for the mid-terms.

This false outrage over spending is a joke.

You just gotta love it when someone has no answer so they tell you to shut up. Then they add expletives when they get really frustrated at the truth that's laid out before them. It shows your lack of vocabulary.

Let's see, the unemployment rate was between 4.5% and 5% until 2007. Gee, what happened in 2007. Oh yeah, the Socialist Democrats won back the House and the Senate. In late 2007, the unemployment rate ballooned to 5.5%. Only in September of 2008 when the mess hit did the unemployment rate move up to 7% and Bush was out of office just three months later. AFter OBama took over, along with the Socialist Democrats in the House and the Senate did unemployment rate jump to 10.1%. This was after Obama's Socialist White House said that the stimulus would stop the loss of 20,000 jobs per day (it didn't) and the unemployment rate wouldn't go above 8% (which it did).

You morons had the argument won on the deficit. Bush did have a $450 billion deficit his last year, which was a record. But then that Socialist Democrat pushed the deficit up four times beyond Bush's one time record.

Consumer confidence is low (bad economy), we've lost jobs not gained (bad economy). Our debt is nearing the level that Greece hit before it needed to be bailed out (which isn't working) which means another recession (bad economy). The only real question is will the recession hit this year or next year.

There are over 100 seats in the House in play this fall. It's really looking like there is going to be a record turnaround in seats this election. But you keep holding on to that thread that everything is good and getting better and that your elections are going to go your way. Maybe you'll grow up someday and figure out that people want to be free and do better with freedom than they do under a socialist.

What I’m happy about is that the economy is adding jobs for the first time in a long time.

I’ve “accepted the talking points of it being the worst recession since the depression?” You’re joking, right anonymous? A talking point is something put out by a political party or a special interest group. Economists and journalists are stating that fact.

I don’t know anything about “Calderons words.” The last thing I would do to take your interpretation of his words or your word for anything.

There is no socialist in the White House, unless there is a foreign socialist there on an official State visit. What the President is doing is fixing this country after eight years of incompetence, and he has brought it out of the worst recession since the Great Depression.

Once again, anonymous, there is no such thing as a socialist Democrat in this country, and that is just a false, fascist Republicans talking point.

Not Anonymous,

It's because you're a hypocritical douchebag, I wonder what right wing website you got those numbers from? Prior to Barack Obama being swore in unemployment was around 9%.

Again Not Anonymous I know you and your fellow right wing klansmen are hating the improving economy because you have nothing to run on..
Other than hoping for the economy to fail what else can the Repugs run on? And Not your party already failed their first trail run for the 2010 mid-terms last Tuesday.

Little Johnny,

I'm not going to get into a contest of who can be the one with the least amount of class with the silly namecalling. Hopefully, someday you'll grow out of your teenage years and be able to carry on a conversation.

HOwever, once again, you've been caught in a lie. Unemployment after Obama took office in January moved to 7.6%. It was nowhere near 9% until after the stimulus bill was passed. Interesting that the only thing the bill stimulated was the unemployment rate to above 10% when your little god in the White House said if the bill passed it wouldn't go above 8%.

Here's your "website" that it came from. http://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2009/feb/wk2/art02.htm

You'll notice if you bother to look it's from the bureau of labor statistics.

Oh, by the way Little Johnny,

You brought up the election in Pennsylania. The district is 2-1 Democrat. He won with 53% of the vote in a district that is 2-1 Democrat. Is this something you really want to hang your hat on? In addition to that, your thrilling candidate won by running against Obama. He said he wouldn't have voted for health care and he woudln't have voted for crap and tax. You should be very proud.

Oh, and if you really want to talk about that, why didn't you mention that the Republican won in Hawaii for the first time in 20 years? That just happened in the past 48 hours. Slip your mind did it?

Motor City Liberal Returns said...

Again Not anonymous you have no credibility on any subject, and you have a very nasty habit of cherry picking selected facts to go along with your talking points.

The employment rate has turned upward but I won't hold my breath that you would look at those numbers because it goes against the story you and your fellow Republicans are putting out there.

People got hope now and those numbers are reflecting people and they have gone back to look for work.

Back to your early pat yourself on the back comment post, I mistaken the numbers still this was Bush's economy and you expect Obama to turn things around in his first 100 days? Conservatives must believe once a president leaves those troubles he created go along with him.

Again in that district in PA John McCain defeated Barack Obama with ease and the Republicans put energy there and still lost almost by double digits. Hawaii yea it sucks but didn't you guys lose a congressional seat your party had control since the civil war?

I guess that one slipped your mind too huh douche?

Fountainviewkid said...

John McCain defeated Barack Obama with ease????? That district went for McCain by a FEW HUNDRED VOTES! Last I checked that's not called "winning with ease". Also you have to remember that the democrat won in PA-12 by running like Republicans (pro gun, anti Obamacare, pro-life, etc.). Yes the employment rate might improve (a bit) but its nowhere as positive as "the Messiah" predicted it was going to be. Oh and Obama has been in office for more than 100 days FYI. In fact he's been in more than 4x that length. When are you gonna stop blaming Bush and starting blaming the real source of the problems. You're gonna run out of things to say about Bush, so I'd think you'd find a new target soon... mayble Blanche Lincoln? Thankfully November is coming and even James Carville admitted that there is a very real possibility you dems will lose the house (and return it back to the people). Guess Carville's a right wing conservative though, eh? Oh and it'd be a good idea to stop the name calling. It doesn't help your position to call people (false, hypocritical, douchebag, klansmen, repugs, etc.).
