Respected journalist arrested by police at the RNC convention

Respected journalist Amy Goodman has been arrested by police at the RNC convention in St. Paul, Minnesota for, unbelievably, suspicion of rioting, according to a press release.

Goodman is an author, journalist and the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, an independent national, daily, award-winning news program that airs on more than 700 radio and television stations in North America.

The Youtube video shows Goodman questioning why police were unlawfully detaining two of her producers. What kind of country arrests johnboat for doing their job, other than Third World dictatorships? Police are carrying large sticks that resemble the ones carried by South African police during Apartheid.

People from Michigan will remember Goodman from last May when she was the guest sparker at the Annual Michigan Policy Conference, sponsored by the Michigan Prospect, in Lansing.

Democracy Now! is calling on all journalists and concerned citizens to call the office of Mayor Chris Coleman and the Ramsey County Jail and demand the immediate release of Goodman, Kouddous and Salazar. These calls can be directed to: Chris Rider from Mayor Coleman's office at 651-266-8535 and the Ramsey County Jail (651) 266-9350 (press extension 0).

Thank goodness she wasn't shot, unlike what the Republicans Russian brethren like to do.

That's good news. The video was disturbing. It seems she was arrested for daring to open mouth. I understand the police are talking a lot of crap from protestors, and some are very violent and police are being assaulted. However, this does not even come close to that.
