This is a platform to comment on local, state and national politics and political news. A special area of interest is the role of corporate media in politics as we move closer and closer to one huge corporation owning all of the media outlets in the country and stifling all independent and critical voices. It will also focus on the absurd 30-plus year Nixonesque political strategy of the “liberal media” lie. This blog is on temporary hiatus because of my job and thin-skinned Republicans.

Quote of the week:Fake pig outrage
This week's Quote of the Week is dedicates to the presidential ticket of Grampy McSame and Spiro Palin and their fake outrage.
You will recall that the McSame campaign came unglued recently when future President Barack Obama said McSame's policies were the same as Bush's failed polices but with a little lipstick to dress them up, using the old cliché that you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. The fake outrage came immediately from the right when they accused Obama of calling Palin a pig, based on her "joke" in her acceptance speech where she said she was a hockey mom and the only difference between pit bull and a hockey mom was lipstick.
But before Grampy launches into another made up controversy, he should have checked if he had said it, because he did, at least three times. The quote of the week is when he said it about then Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's health care plan. This time, McSame was referring directly to a woman, unlike Obama who was referring to McSame.
Was McSame calling Hillary pig? I doubt it. He just needs to remember when he flips and when he flops.
It’s vaguely, not vaguely, eerily reminiscent of what they tried in 1993. I think they put some lip stick on the pig, but it’s still a pig, John McCain, talking about Hillary Clinton’s health care plan.

Obama's teleprompter hits the trail
(CNN) — It appears Barack Obama's teleprompter is hitting the campaign trail.
The Democratic presidential nominee has never tried to hide the fact he delivers speeches off the device, though normally he doesn't use one at standard campaign rallies and town hall events.
But the Illinois senator used a teleprompter at both his Colorado events Monday — making for a particularly peculiar scene in Pueblo, where the prompter was set up in the middle of what is normally a rodeo ring.

Nobama 21 false ads McCain 14 as per Factcheck.
This just in...Old Boys Network = McCain Campaign Staff Meeting
Ain't that the truth, thread-jackers.
And this ridiculous shit about teleprompters...I'll just bet one you bright, conservative fellas could find a pic of McSame and Caribou Barbie using a teleprompter as well...it's a pretty common practice.
Fucking morons.
In Case You Missed It:
1,100 Voter Cards Suspect
From The Albuquerque Journal
By Jeff Jones
September 17, 2008
More than 1,000 new voter registration cards received by the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office in advance of the November general election might be frauds, the county clerk said Tuesday.
Maggie Toulouse Oliver said she has notified prosecutors in state and federal law enforcement agencies about the problem.
Some of the estimated 1,100 registrations list Social Security numbers for people who already are in the county’s database of registered voters, Toulouse Oliver said.
Other cards list the same name — but a different birth date — of already registered voters.
Some of the people whose names appear in the list of possibly phony registrations, when called by the clerk’s office, said they never filled out the new cards changing their voter data, Toulouse Oliver said.
In addition, “We do have a series of cards identified that appear to be (names) taken straight out of the phone book, Toulouse Oliver said.
Toulouse Oliver said the potential scope of the problem has mushroomed since late last month, when the Journal reported on a forged card for Rebecca Sitterly, a former state District Court judge from Albuquerque who has been voting in the same place for nearly two decades.
That card was submitted by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, a controversial nonprofit organization that says it has handled 72,000 new voter registrations in New Mexico since January.
Matthew Henderson, head organizer for the group, said the Sitterly card was set aside as a potential phony by ACORN itself and turned in to the clerk’s office with a batch of other possibly bad cards.
Toulouse Oliver said she did not know how many cards in the current stack of questionable registrations were submitted by ACORN, though she said that group this year has done the majority of so-called third-party registrations — those that aren’t turned in by the voters themselves but are submitted by groups organized to enlist new registrants.
ACORN contract workers in 2005 were investigated in connection with forged signatures on a minimum wage ballot petition, though ACORN supervisors have said political organizers now oversee the registration gathering and the group has beefed up its own quality control.

What's for lunch?: John McCain is repeatedly taking Barack Obama to school in campaign for president, says Flint Journal columnist John Tomlinson
Posted by John Tomlinson | The Flint Journal September 14, 2008 01:34AM
Barack Obama
John McCain
Sen. John McCain continues to demonstrate what a lightweight he faces by regularly eating Sen. Barack Obama's lunch.
Imagine, Thursday night Barack goes to bed, knowing he gave the speech of his life. Then he awakens Friday only to find that Sen. McCain sucked up all his oxygen. Everyone's talking about Gov. Sarah Palin and Obama's speech is yesterday's news.
What does he do? He launches an attack ad claiming Gov. Palin doesn't have the experience to be president. When it's quickly obvious she has more executive experience than he has, he became the day's national joke.
To wit: If Palin doesn't have enough experience to be president, but has more than he, the obvious rejoinder is - Hello?
Obama then tried to argue he had executive experience by virtue of running his campaign. But when it came out that he hired Jim Messina to run it for him, he shot himself in the other foot.

After the convention, McCain ate Barack's dinner. To wit: Because Obama caught so much flack for shying away from the American flag, he plastered them all over the stadium -- 12,000 to be exact.
But after the ceremony, he had them all thrown in the garbage. The cleaning crew was so outraged, they called Sen. McCain. In a stroke of genius, his campaign is now using them at campaign stops.
What kind of person throws 12,000 American flags in the garbage? After all the heat he took for a) refusing to wear an American flag lapel pin (because he believes people who wear them are phony patriots) and, b) removing the flag off his campaign jet, he remains clueless.
The coup de grace of course, is Gov. Palin. As the most popular governor in the United States, based on approval ratings, she resonates with average folks. Watching her debate Sen. Joseph Biden, who, in the 1980s was regularly taken to task for stealing others' lines for his speeches, will provide us a lesson in how easily estrogen neutralizes testosterone.
The outrage generated by the mainstream media's obvious bias against patriotic women was just frosting on the cake. Did they ever ask House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who also has five kids, if she found it impossible to put America before her family?
When they excoriated Palin for her husband's DUI 22 years ago, did it ever occur to them that if a DUI by someone not even in the race actually matters, then surely Obama's self-acknowledged problem with coke and pot about the same time, must somehow matter at least as much? But who in the liberal media is talking that up?
McCain has already eaten the charming lightweight's lunch and dinner. During the debates, he'll so thoroughly consume Obama's late night snack, that by election day, Obama will be so light of weight, the scales will tip dramatically in favor of McCain.
Dude, maybe you should put down the bong.
McSame and his folks are yesterday's news.
Get used to President Obama.
Also...two words for you...
Scoreboard
However, look for them to change tomorrow.
No debates = inaccurate polls.
On the other hand, McCain is More of the Same!
The Same is good: more tax cuts for everyone, appointing more supreme court justics out to protect peoples' rights instead of protecting the abortion industry, retaliating against enemies that attack us, and many more examples where Obama has made the wrong choices and plans to make many more.
The abortion industry? You mean I can buy stock?
This is the Quote of the total campaign season so far.
"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."
And then we again have Chuck (I Don't Pay Taxes) Rangel
What a Democratic role model for CHANGE
WASHINGTON - Rep. Charles Rangel has been using a House of Representatives parking garage for years as free storage space for his old Mercedes-Benz - a violation of congressional rules and a potential new tax woe for the embattled lawmaker.
he car is covered with a protective tarp and has no license plates. Rangel's registration on the vehicle expired in 2004, state records show.
House rules forbid use of the garage for long-term storage more than 45 days - and congressional aides told The Post that Rangel's car has been sitting there for years.
A House Web site on parking regulations informs anyone with a space that, under IRS regulations, the benefit of the free parking is considered "imputed income" and must be declared to the government.
The spaces are valued by the House at $290 per month, the site says - about the monthly cost of leasing a space in a private DC-area garage.
If the car has been in that space since its license plates were surrendered four years ago, the imputed income would be nearly $5,000.
In addition to the storage issue, the vehicle - valued at roughly $10,000 to $15,000 - runs afoul of other rules set forth on the House Web site because it does not have license plates and does not display a current House parking permit.
Joe, you're right about Rangel, he's older than dirt and it's time for him to go.
Wow. I took a day off for my daughters' wedding, and I get 13 comments. The good news is most of them have nothing to do with the actual post, so I don't have to bother to respond. And my friend Dargo dealt with the rest.
The only thing I want to address is the alleged comment that Vice-President Joe Biden said about It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."
I couldn't agree more. The middle class and the lower middle class have been paying more than their fair share of taxes, and they are the ones serving, being maimed and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why shouldn't the people making more than $250,000 year make a sacrifice too? It bugs me to hear how the right is patriotic and I'm not, yet I served in the military and pay taxes from property and sales tax to federal income tax.
I don't know how they can claim to be more patriotic than me when they hate to pay for the cost of the war and most refuse to serve in the war. So, to be patriotic all I have to do is put a bumper sticker on my car, and put the flag out on everyday and look the other way when my government violate the Constitution and tortures people? I think I'll pass.
New quote of the week. Chuck Rangel.
Asked during an interview with New York's WCBS-2 television why Democrats seem afraid of Palin's popularity, Rangel replied: "You got to be kind to the disabled."
Actually, he said disadvantaged in referring to her foreign policy experience, which is zero. Just because she’s not very smart does not mean she is disabled. Those are my words. But hell, that is tame compared to what the Rove/Bush/McSame attack machine has put out about Obama and even McSame himself.
