Join energized Democrats at the state convention Saturday

For those of us in Michigan who did not have the privilege of attending the historic Democratic National Convention in Denver last week, we can soak up some of that energizing and inspiring ambience by attending the Michigan Democratic Party Convention Saturday at the Lansing Center.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 6. Shortly after that, the caucuses begin that includes caucuses from the Arab and Chaldean Caucus to the Veteran’s Caucus. I guarantee you will not find a more diverse group, as well as fun and energized, anywhere in Michigan.

All Democrats can attend, but only precinct delegates and MDP Party members who have been a MDP member for at least 30 days can vote for the party's state Supreme Court nominee and state education board member candidates later in the day.

You can join the party there for a mere $20, and there will be plenty of happy smiling faces there to welcome you.

The nominee for Michigan Supreme Court is critical important as we try to unseat insurance shill Cliff Taylor. Taylor leads the group of Republican activist judges known as the “Gang of Four." Since then, no insurance company has lost a case, and they have not lost a case in more than a decade. The gang of four has increased government immunity, stripped consumer rights and denied justice to the regular guy. If you re not an insurance company or a corporation, you will get no justice from Cliff. The leading candidate to unset Cliff are Judge Diane Marie Hathaway and Judge Deborah Thomas.

Candidates for other boards are, for State Board of Education, Board President Kathleen Straus, D-Bloomfield Township, the longest serving board member, and Vice President John Austin, D-Ann Arbor, will also run for another term.

The leading candidates for the University of Michigan board appear to be incumbent Larry Deitch and Denise Illich. Running for the MSU trustee spots are former state Representative and Senator Dianne Byrum, Mike Murphy and Brian Massalla. The candidates for the Wayne State Board of Governors are incumbent Paul Massaron, Jackie Washington and Gary Pollard.

You will also get to hear from some great speakers, and almost every Democratic state office holder and candidate for state office will be on hand. I will be there at the registration desk. Stop by and say hello: I will be the handsome guy - self-described - wearing a patriotic football tie.

The Lansing Center is located at 333 E. Michigan Avenue in downtown right on the beautiful Grand River.

See you there.

It's good to know where all of the gimme, gimme, gimme crowd is. Children are free to play outside, they are safe. Women are free to shop, they are safe. The elderly can walk without fear, they are safe.

When the nutjobs are cooped up in one place, the people are once again free.

McCain TV Ratings Beat Obama in Preliminary Numbers
By Andrew Krukowski
Presidential candidate John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention drew more television viewers than his rival Barack Obama attracted at the Democratic party's event last week, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research.
Across all broadcast networks Thursday, Sen. McCain’s speech ended the night with a 4.8 rating/7 share, compared to Sen. Obama’s 4.3/7 average, according to overnight numbers from metered households in 55 U.S. markets measured by Nielsen. These ratings are preliminary, however, and are subject to change.
NBC’s coverage of Sen. McCain’s speech started directly at the tail end of the opening game of NFL season, with the speech pulling in a 6.3 rating/10 share, topping Sen. Obama’s speech last week by 26%. That lead-in may have boosted audiences who last night turned out in droves to watch Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin introduce herself to the country.
ABC’s showing of the McCain speech averaged a 4.5/7, down 2% from the same night of the Democratic convention last week, while CBS’ coverage took in a 3.4/5, an increase of 3%.

And this means, what? I want to see Grampy fill a stadium. How hard is it to turn on the TV? The real test will be in November when President Obama wins the presidency.

This morning, the MI Secretary of State issued their report certifying that Rose Bogaert and the Wayne County Taxpayers Association HAD collected enough signatures to force MI House Speaker Andy Dillon to face a recall election on November 4th.
Last week, a federal judge ordered the MI Secretary of State to review over 2,000 signatures on petitions to recall Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon for supporting the largest tax increase in state history. The signatures were not previously counted, but the federal judge ruled that state laws used to previously invalidate the signatures were unconstitutional - and he ordered a recount.
Speaker Dillon's last hope to avoid a recall election rests with his appeal to the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. Dillon desperately hopes that the Court will act fast - the ballots are sent to the printer this coming Monday with the recall question on them.
Dillon is in deep trouble - he's behind for the first time in the game, it's fourth down and 30 yards to go with just a few seconds left on the clock. But this is NOT a game. Granholm and Dillon's tax hike, Michigan's economy, lost jobs. It's about setting a precedent for ALL the politicians in Lansing that citizens can, and will, hold even the highest and mightiest politicians accountable for their actions.

Sorry CG, thread-jack, I'll keep it short.

While the media is masturbating over Palin, this has been going on.

What are the odds we find bin Laden right before the election?

Can you imagine what the world would have been like if we continued the hunt for bin Laden, caught him, and left it at that? Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis wouldn't be dead, 4,000 of our children wouldn't be dead in a senseless war, Bush wouldn't be a corrupt asswipe, the Republicans would have better standing with the country, and the anger and adversarial nature of the blogosphere would be more moderate.

Add Charlie Rangel to the list of Democrats with sweetheart deals on real estate. No interest paid on property he bought in Puerto Rico. Now he may owe taxes on that money but isn't sure. The man that is responsible for taxes put on the American people doesn't know the tax code. This is currently in the ethics committee. This is in addition to rental property he has in New York, one of which was used for campaign purposes.

He's added to the list of Democrats with sweetheart deals on property which includes Sen. Harry Reid, Senator Chris Dodd, and Senator Kent Conrad.

Chris Dodd didn't know he got a good deal on his property, yet he's the Chairman of the Banking committee.

Dodd and Rangel both chairman and don't understand their own personal situations that fall under their own committees.

Can these liberals get any dumber? Or perhaps they got these deals because of their positions and are getting away with something illegal. In Dodd's case, corruption seems to run in his family.

Senator Reid is the Majority Leader in the Senate, he doesn't know he's supposed to report his real estate dealings? Corruption or incompetence? You decide.

Good luck with your convention.

Is your state rep. candidate going to be there? The one who broke the law by not filing his campaign finance statement on time?

You Livingston County democrats are certainly finding some outstanding people to put on the ballot!

Could you imagine what the world would be like if "I did not have sex with that woman Slick Willy" had accepted Sudan's offer for bin Laden

During a February 2002 speech, Clinton explained that he turned down an offer from Sudan for bin Laden's extradition to the U.S., saying, "At the time, 1996, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him."

But that wasn't exactly true. By 1996, the 9/11 mastermind had already been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing by prosecutors in New York.

Sorry red, you lose again. We didn't pursue an indictment against bin Laden until 1998.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZER :)
Q What's a community organizer?
A. It's someone who organizes a community.
Q. And communities need organizing?
A. You think they organize themselves?
Q. I've lived in plenty of communities, and I don't remember any organizers.
A. The best community organizers seek no credit.
Q. Barack Obama seeks credit.
A. And the even better ones seek lots of credit!
Q. I still don't understand what a community organizer is supposed to do.
A. The important job of organizing the community.
Q. Like decide the layout plans of communities?
A. No. That's the job of the city and the builders.
Q. So what is the community organizer organizing?
A. Not the buildings, but the actual community.
Q. To do what?
A. To be organized!
Q. Um... so does he alphabetize the community?
A. More often he uses color coding.
Q. And someone gets paid for this?
A. It's a very important job.
Q. I still don't understand what the hell it is.
A. Maybe that's because it's such a complex occupation.
Q. Or maybe because it's a BS job Barack Obama made up.
A. It's not made up. There's even a Wikipedia article on community organizing. Here's the opening paragraph:

Community organizing is a process by which people are brought together to act in common self-interest. While organizing describes any activity involving people interacting with one another in a formal manner, much community organizing is in the pursuit of a common agenda. Many groups seek populist goals and the ideal of participatory democracy. Community organizers create social movements by building a base of concerned people, mobilizing these community members to act, and developing leadership from and relationships among the people involved.

Q. Huh?
A. See, it's very complicated and important.
Q. If it takes that many words to describe and it's still not clear what it is, I'm pretty sure it's a BS job.
A. Know what? Why don't you rot in your disorganized community you @#$%ing caveman.
Q. And who are the idiots paying these people salaries?
A. It's the community! They want this! Without the organizing there would be riots and cannibalism!
Q. I'm pretty sure we'll be fine organizing ourselves.
A. You stupid, gun-toting redneck, this is why people like us don't even bother trying to talk to people like you. You belittle important things you don't understand while clinging to your book about the invisible sky fairy!
Q. It's a made up job.
A. One day Barack Obama will force all your ignorant communities to be organized! Then you'll get your comeuppance! All of you who laughed at him, we'll see if you're laughing then!
Q. I'm pretty sure I will be laughing. I'll actually make a point of walking up to the community organizer and laughing at him because he wasn't able to get a real job.
A. Then you're just mean.
Q. Mean and working and actual job I can explain to others.

During the two years I spent as the Data Processing and Plans Officer in the Battle Staff Support Center of NORAD, in the underground War Room of Cheyenne Mountain near Colorado Springs, the then-governor of Alaska was always read in on the national security system at the highest levels; so I suspect Governor Palin is now. Hell, he or she had to be - not only did we have numerous DEW line radar sites in Alaska, plus a NORAD sector HQ, we scrambled fighter jets out of Alaska every time the Russians sent their Bear long-range bombers over the roof of the world to test our readiness and willingness to react. Once the Damnocrats make enough noise about her lack of national security credentials to set themselves up for a major embarrassment, Senator McCain will probably drop this delayed-action bomb on them for maximum effect right before the election. Wheeeeeee ... Go, Johnny, Go!!!
Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units. As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counter terrorism plans. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security because she already is.

Could you imagine what the world would be like if Bush had paid attention to the intelligence report that said Bin Laden determined to strike in U.S., actually lived up to his promise to go to the “gates of hell” to pursue Bin Laden or he had not started that unnecessary Iraq invasion.

What does community organizers have to do with the state convention. Stay on topic or don’t post.

I don’t get this hatred and attacks on community organizers.
Jesus Christ was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.

What does Palin’s lack of foreign policy experience have to do with the state convention? Stay on topic or don’t post.

My God. I thought Cindy McCain was the only one stupid enough to say claim Palin has foreign experience because Alaska is close to Russia. Unbelievable. Take a hike with that bullshit. This has to be one of the most ridiculous and desperate things you have ever posted.

MIchigan has been in a one state recession since 2003. Five years. And the Democrats party in Lansing. I'd say they should be ashamed, but why? They only care about themselves and not about the ruin that they are putting on this state.

In addition....

McCain supporters, claiming they rescued 12,000 miniature American flags from the site of Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech last Thursday, redistributed the orphan flags to audience members ahead of a McCain rally in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

The move was an overt swipe at Obama from a campaign whose motto has been “country first.”

McCain supporters said the flags were discovered by a vendor at Denver’s Invesco Field after the conclusion of the Democratic National Convention. The vendor found trash bags full of flags in and near garbage bins, and turned them over to the McCain campaign.

Boy Scouts were sorting through 84 bags of flags in Colorado on Saturday, before a McCain supporter had veterans distribute them to the audience.

“We want to find good homes for these flags,” radio host Dan Caplis said at the rally, adding that whatever flags remained would be placed at memorials throughout Colorado.

Audience members, who booed when Caplis announced that the flags were left in Denver, waved the flags and chanted “U.S.A” before McCain arrived at the rally with his running mate, Sarah Palin.

Obama has faced attacks on his patriotism since the beginning of the Democratic primary race and has set up a Web site specifically designed to fight such charges.

U.S. Code says the proper method for disposing of an American flag is actually burning, provided it is “no longer a fitting emblem for display.”

-------
Interesting. Obama has faced attacks on his patriotism "since the beginning of the Democratic primaries". That would be Hillary doing it.

Why's everyone picking on poor Barack Hussein Obama?

Communications guru said...

My friend Dargo predicted you would spin some tale about flags and Democrats, and he was 100 percent correct, as usual. Amazing. Michigan is not in a one state recession, and the Bush failed economic polices that led to 3.5 million manufacturing jobs being lost has contributed to Michigan’s problem.

It’s the Democratic Party, by the way.

You are correct that President Obama’s patriotism has been questioned, but since when is it a surprise when a Republican questions a Democrat’s patriotism. That’s standard operating procedure. Your brand of patriotism is waving a piece of cloth made in China and chanting USA, but most, like you, refuse to serve in the military, and don’t want to pay their fair share to benefit the country.

Could you imagine the uproar from people like you if President Obama had even the slightest connection to a group that wanted to withdraw from the U.S. that was founded and ran by a person who said this: “I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag.”

Anonymous said...

The flag is nothing more than a piece of cloth? And "damn flag"? No wonder you have no respect for children, women and the elderly.

It's not a democratic party, it's Democrat party. There is nothing democratic about marxism.

ka_Dargo_Hussein said...

brett, you're predictable, to say the least.

Communications guru said...

First, the story is one more lie somebody made up and sent to your email inbox. Yes, a piece of cloth, but no one said "damn flag.” The toy flags I saw on TV were probably made in Communist China and have little meaning to me. I have never been big on symbols to show you love your country. I prefer action. Second, I treat flags with respect, but what carries more meaning for me is how and where is it displayed. I watched the Olympics on TV, and I saw track athletes wrap flags around their sweaty bodies almost like a towel. To, me that seems more disrespectful than throwing away toy flags.

I see the boxes in the library where people drop off flags for the VFW to dispose of, and I have never seen one of those toy flags; ever.

What really shows a lack of patriotism is being associated with a group that wants to withdraw from the U.S. that was founded and ran by a person who said “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."
"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag.”

I have plenty of respect for “children, women and the elderly.” What I don’t have respect for is someone like you.

It’s the same Democratic Party that Thomas Jefferson started. Marxism is what millions of people in uniform spent more than 40 years fighting, including me.
