The choice of Romney as VP to help win Michigan should be a bust

Now that Barack Obama has chosen Sen. Joe Biden as his running mate, attention and speculation has shifted to who Grampy McSame will choose as a running mate.

The early favorite was Paris Hilton for a number of obvious reasons, including she has a much better energy plan than McSame. My source who said Paris was the one was obviously mistaken. There was then speculation that he would choose a pro-choice Republican – which is as rare as snow in July – such as Tom Ridge or Democrat turncoat Joe Lieberman. However, the extreme conservative rightwing element of the party that controls the Grand Oil Party went berserk, and it appears very unlikely that will occur.

However, many people have speculated a pro-choice candidate was never seriously considered, and that was just a ploy by McSame for the extremists to be able to swallow Mitt "Who Let the Dogs Out" Romney as the choice for VP. Romney is a Mormon, and that does not sit well with the extremist evangelicals that have hijacked the GOP. A candidate's religion should play zero role in an election, but this is the GOP.

Before Romney can be named as the VP, his staff is busy trying to find out how many homes he owns.

The conventional wisdom is that Romney, the son of former Michigan Gov. George Romney, will help win the swing state of Michigan that has not gone for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988. To anyone who watched the debates between McSame and Romney it was very clear the two could not even stand to be in the same room together, but the one thing McSame has proved over the years is that he will say anything, do anything, flip-flop on any position and cozy up to anyone that will help him win what he calls the "prize." After all, he embraced Bush/Rove after they smeared and attacked his family in the 2000 primary.

Romney won the GOP Presidential primary here in January, and I hear Republicans claim Romney as a hometown boy. That’s' a stretch, and if that was the case why was he the Governor of Massachusetts and not Michigan?

He was born here and went to high school here, but that was only because that was where his parents lived. In other words, he had no other choice but to live here with his parents. The first time he had a choice to live in Michigan after he graduated from high school, he said no thanks. At anytime he could have moved back here. He has a brother that stayed, why not Mitt?

To say he is Michigan's favorite son is simply not true.

Sounds like someone is worried about Romney being Vice President. It's interesting that the writer says that religion shouldn't matter in an election yet he is of the party that is constantly berating evangelicals.

How many times have we heard the liberals complain about Oral Roberts University, the late Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson?

He also complains that Romney doesn't live in Michigan any longer. That he only lived here because he had to when he was a child. Yet, Obama didn't grow up in Illinois....or even the United States for that matter.

In the midst of the Democrat Convention going on in Denver. The day following Hillary's speech, two days following an appearance by Ted Kennedy and Michelle Obama, there has been nothing written on this blog about the Democrats. Yet Walberg and Romney are his topics.

The fear is running rampant on this blog and it's fun to watch.

How do you get that I’m afraid of the Mittster out of that post? I would love him to be named vice-president, and my prediction is he will. I can’t wait to hear his great quote everyday about the house that Clinton Hillary built.

The “writer of this blog?” Would that be me? It’s not me that brought religion up. The Founding Fathers said there would be no religious test to be president. We just had one. It’s you and your party that has been using religion, including trying to paint him as a Muslim.

Oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson? Do you mean the “agents of intolerance?” Oh yea, Grampy McSame doesn’t hold that view anymore. Now he’s kissing their ass to get elected. Is there anything he won’t do, sell out or say to win the prize. What they stand for is not what I remember from all those years in Sunday School.

Here’s the difference between Romney and Obama. People are claiming Romney as a native son, but he chose not to live here. Obama chose Illinois. Didn’t grow up in this country? Since when is Hawaii not as state?

So now your criticizing what I write about? You need to take a look at your “blog.” Do you know how many liberal bloggers from Michigan are in Denver? Quite a few, and they are covering it quite well. I suggest you visit Michigan Liberal, Michigan Messenger or Blogging for Michigan if you want to read about convention coverage.

Fear? How about satire. As for fear, you need to take a look at who is putting out all of the attack ads.

On another matter, a Federal Judge, Robert Holmes Bell ruled today...

"IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Defendant Terri Lynn Land, as Michigan's Secretary of State, SHALL re-examine the petitions filed seeking a recall election against Representative Dillon of Michigan's 17th House District WITHOUT consideration of the M.C.L. § 168.957 requirements that (1) recall petition circulators be registered to vote, and that (2) recall petition circulators be residents of the legislative district of the official to be recalled.

If upon such re-examination Defendant determines that the required 8,724 valid signatures were gathered, then Defendant SHALL place the recall against Representative Dillon on the November 4, 2008, general election ballot."

It looks like Speaker Dillon will have to not only deal with his election, but a recall as well on election day.

Whatever. Now they can consider the criminal fraud that was used to collect the signatures. The ruling does not put tit on the ballot. Regardless, if that happens he will win both elections anyway. I’m not sure what this has got do with Mitt “Who Let the Dogs Out” Romney? Why don’t you post this on your “blog?”

Boy or Boy CG you must feel like a fool now, read below

"MAJOR WIN! This morning, Federal U.S. District Court Judge Robert Holmes Bell issued an injunction that will likely result in Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon facing recall in this November's election.

Judge Bell ruled that the MI Secretary of State MUST count the 2,053 recall petition signatures that had previously been rejected because the people who collected them were not registered voters in Speaker Dillon's district. Judge Bell ruled that Michigan's laws restricting circulators were unconstitutional violations of the First Amendment's right to free speech.

From Judge Bell's injunction:

This means that only 776 out of the 2,053 previously rejected signatures are needed to achieve the total 8,724 required to force Dillon's recall election!"

Now I guess you need to eat all your words. You must feel like a fool that the Democrats thugs actions did not work.

I am laughing my ass off right now

You know, when I have to get after my daughter and I ask her about what she did, her response to me is "Whatever".

That's twice now you've been equal to or younger acting than my 11 year old daughter.

By the way, it has nothing to do with Romney, which is why I began the post with "on another matter".

Thank you for making my night more pleasurable than it already was.

brett and to_spread_the_lies sure love to thread-jack don't they?

It shows they would rather fight than discuss the issues.

Now remember folks, here are the rulz according to brett.

Follow them, or he will shake his finger at you and espouse ad nauseum on your lack of civility. *eye roll*

Please be civil. Namecalling doesn't further a discussion, it only shows the lack of tolerance which can only take away from your position.

I'm going ignore your ridiculous attempt at insulting me. Like my friend, ka_Dargo_Hussein, said, I notice you don't follow your own advice.

"Please be civil. Namecalling doesn't further a discussion, it only shows the lack of tolerance which can only take away from your position." Do as I say not as I do. That's a fine example for your daughter.

You're also back to your old debating style of ignoring what you can't respond to. The complex ruling does not put it on the ballot like you tried to say. Are you denying that? Again, what does it have to do with Romney? I notice don't see this on your "blog."

This ruling is wrong, and I hope it's appealed. It has nothing to do with Andy Dillon. He will be reelected in November, and the recall, if it makes it on the ballot, will also fail, especially if it's on the November ballot when people normally vote. This just ensured a small minority can undo the will of the majority in the person's district. Plus, some outsider can come in and undue the will of the majority of the people who actually live in the person's district for simply doing his job.

Communications guru said...

A major victory? How do you figure? This is a major defeat for democracy. It just makes it easier to for an outside minority to come in and undo the will of the majority who actually live in the area the person represents. This perverts the entire reason for having a recall law on the books. It's for misconduct in office, not for doing the right thing and making a needed vote.

This will have zero effect on Andy Dillon. He will win reelection in November, and if the recall makes it on the November ballot it will be easily defeated. Now, if it was a stealth election like drolet was hoping for, then perhaps he might have been recalled. But the fraud investigation by the state police has not yet been completed. Those signatures collected by fraud should be thrown out.

The only thugs were the paid ones drolet brought in from outside the district.

But wait...everything you said is discounted because...WE'RE THE SAME PERSON!!!

If you will remember (even if you don't admit it), when I used my daughter as an example the first time, it was after I had shown her your words and my words and asked her if she understood. She did, you didn't.

"Whatever" is a typical response from pre-teen kids. It may also be for teens, but my daughters are 11 and 12, so I'm not able to judge teen speak yet and the one thing that I do know about teenagers (my son is an older teen) is that none of us are as smart as an 18 year old. We all knew everything at 18. From there, we've just all gone downhill (if you don't have an 18 year old, you won't understand this, but you're probably lucky).

ON ANOTHER MATTER....there is an updated list of the Obama tax increases, which you say don't exist. You can find it in the article at http://spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=13769

If you don't read, you won't know.

I don't see the point of this post. I just take everything you say with a grain of salt, unless you show me proof. I also am not the least bit concerned with what you or your daughter think of me. Your writing at times simply does not make sense, at least to people other than you.

You will also excuse me if I laugh at you using the rightwing billionaire Richard Mellon Scarfe's attack American Spectator as a reference for your misguided reference. Please. Give me a real news source.

If I were you, I would start deleting stuff that is off-topic. Let them post it to the thread it belongs to.

Bunch of wankers.

I should, but I made a pledge not to censor. I'm not going to break that pledge for a few irevelant, off-topic comments.

I can understand that.

It also serves to illustrate their diversionary tactics regarding the subject at hand.

If you're argument can't stand on its merits, then change the subject.

I get it now. I really get it now. You don't recognize any sources that say the opposite of what you say.

If the weatherman comes out and says that it's going to rain, and you want it to be sunny, you would stand in the floods of Noah and claim that you're getting sunburned.

The American Spectator is a well respected publication. As is the Economist and the London Telegraph. You really ought to expand your reading beyond the Archie comic books.

Economic figures show 3.3% growth for the second quarter. I'll bet you don't believe that either because it again, disproves your recession theory.

You have to be joking, the “American Spectator is a well respected publication?” Bullshit. You need to read “Blinded by the Right” by David Brock. It was that piece of trash that put out a bounty for garbage on the Clinton’s, true or untrue.

This country is in a recession, and I have provided many links from respected economists who say we are in a recession. Now, you may be one of the richest 1 percent in this country that is doing well, but they are the only ones doing well in this economy.

Bad News C.G.

Gross domestic product, or GDP, grew at a 3.3 percent annual rate in the April-June quarter, its fastest pace in nearly a year, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. The revised reading was much better than the government's initial estimate of a 1.9 percent pace and exceeded economists' expectations for a 2.7 percent growth rate.

Anonymous said...

Dear Asshat-hatesusa-thread-jacker,
You're getting excited over the GDP?

Did your paycheck grow at the same pace? What about your neighbors?

I'm proud are economy did well, but you preening about like some banty rooster about to get his first piece of tail is just a little overboard.

Are you attributing this glorious GDP to Commander Codpiece and his help the wealthy first tax practices? Or are you just opening your liberalshateusa big fucking mouth?

Liberals didn't fuck up this country...Republicans and King George did. Now, shut the fuck up until you have something to contribute to the goddamn thread.

David Brock? You mean that guy that wrote for the American Spectator then left and chose to complain about his former employer? Gee, now he's credible. You'll have to PROVE a lie before I'll believe it. You're too quick to call everything a lie when in fact, you have the market cornered on the lies.

CG...you're a LIAR...brett sez so...so there!

btw...his latest blog post remarks that an Obama administration will bereft of scandal like Clinton's administration...remember...7 years of trying to chase down corruption in a land deal and all they found was pecker tracks on a blue dress.

Pathetic wankers...I'm curious, brett, have the cheetos discolored your schlonker permanently or do you alternate and eat corn chips instead?

That is good news, hate America, but unfortunately it will not last. According to the AP, "the rebound isn't expected to last." Those stimulus checks helped, but it cost us an even larger budget deficit. What we need to do is get Obama in the White House.

Yes, David Brock who wrote for the American Spectator then revealed what the right was really like. Are you denying Richard Mellon Scarfe's reward for dirt on the Clinton's in the Arkansas project? There's some responsible journalism. Think of all the people who have left the Bush Administration or your party and wrote books about what it's really like, and they are all disgruntled employees. Boy, that's an awful lot of disgruntled employees.

Brock wrote the book, "The Real Anita Hill" and "The Seduction of Hillary Rodham." He was also once was a write for the weekly conservative news magazine Insight and a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation. If he was "disgruntled" at the American Spectator like you falsely claim, then he could have left and worked for any rightwing publication he chose.

If I have the "market cornered" on les, why is it you can never prove I lied?

You really ought to expand your reading beyond the Archie comic books. I would suggest you start with some of Mr. Brock's books, like "Blinded by the Right: The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative," The Republican Noise Machine: Right-Wing Media and How It Corrupts Democracy" or "Free Ride: John McCain and the Media." That is, of course, if you read books.
