Republicans should bring history book to protest at the Capitol

Apparently, somebody needs to give Republicans and Wall Street traders a history book.

Based on the over-the-top, unprofessional rant a few weeks ago by CNBC's Rick Santelli on the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, something called the "Chicago Tea Party" is set for Friday, Feb. 27 against the economic stimulus package. It's all a little confusing, and it makes little sense. Republicans have no solution to the mess their policies plunged the country into, but they sure are trying to make a lot of noise by saying little.

Apparently, Santelli is under the mistaken belief that President Obama'a Homeowner Stability Initiative – which is not what they are protesting, I think – will give people something for nothing. What it will do is help people who need it and not give him something for nothing. Apparently, he's upset that the plan does not immediately foreclose on everybody and kick them out into the streets, and it supposedly "rewards bad behavior."

Of course, he ignored the greed, risky lending and bad behavior of the financial interests he supposedly reports on, and who actually caused the economic meltdown.

But, here in Michigan they are organizing a "tea party at noon on Friday at the Capitol in Lansing". They are asking people to bring "tea bags, protest signs and American flags." They should also bring a history book to read what the original tea party was all about.

The Boston Tea Party was to protest the Tea Act of 1763, and it was part of the discontent brought about by the Stamp Act of 1765. The Colonists were protesting "Taxation without Representation." This is just one more example of the Republicans not paying attention to the November election. The fact is the American people want the stimulus bill, and they voted for President Obama and his polices. The American people also gave Democrats control of the House and Senate for a reason, and that was to represent them.

They are represented, and somebody should tell then that on Friday.

Santelli, the new hero of the irresponsible wingnut right.

Come on nonnymouse, what are your wingnut masters telling you to think about this?

I am not surprised that the Socialist Democrats don't understand the Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was about Taxation without Representation and in the larger context the constant taxes imposed on the colonists by the Parliament and King of England.

The only one that was there to represent the Colonists was Benjamin Franklin and he was tried. He wasn't however, part of the Parliament.

The Socialist Democrat on here wants you to believe that Republicans didn't offer any solutions. He's bought into the medias representation on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and on and on. It's a lie. There is no other way to put it. It's just a flat out lie.

Here are some of the solutions offered by the Republicans.
1. Cut the corporate tax rate, which is the highest in all industrialized nations.
2. Give the refund to the people rather than to the government to buy 800 cars for government workers.
3. Set aside money to assist with the bailouts of the banks that are necessary, but give tax cuts to everyone. Tax cuts have been proven to stimulate the economy each time it's tried and along with the tax cuts, cut spending.

Why haven't we heard about these offered solutions? Because in the House, the head Socialist Democrat, Nancy Pelosi, wouldn't let any Republican ideas come out. In the Senate, they were debated, but voted out completely on party line votes.

Now we have the spending bill that will force hardworking honest Americans that are struggling to pay their own mortgages in this to have money taken from them and given to others that didn't act responsibly with their mortgages. This isn't stimulus. This is socialism.

Nobody has said that they are in favor of all of those people losing their homes. Nobody wants them kicked out of their homes and thrown out in the street. That's not even a good spin. It's an extreme interpretation of what those that feel cheated by Big government, Big Brother, the Socialists in the White House and the Congress, are saying.

The credit market needs to be loosened up. You do that by injecting cash into the banks. The way you get cash into the banks is to have people putting more money in the banks. They can't get that money in the banks if the government is confiscating it all.

You cut spending. There is a tremendous amount of waste in government. There is now more waste added. In addition, the Socialist Democrat now occupying the White House is claiming there is no pork and no earmarks. The facts are there are over 8,000. I read another today, on page 283, I believe. $200,000 for tatoo removal.

There is one way to move an economy. Get big brother out of the way and turn loose the power of the American people. Entrepreneurs starting businesses. Corporations using the money they save on taxes to hire more people, to make more of their product and people buying these these products because they now have more money in their pockets, paying less for their goods and services because taxes have been reduced on the corporations as well as the people.

Socialism has failed every time it's tried. It's doomed to failure this time. This redistribution of wealth will stunt the recovery.

The people putting on the Tea Party are using an event from history to make the point that the Socialist Democrats have not only taken over, but are now imposing their will of cradle to grave care without the input of the masses.

Only 32% of the American people supported the spending bill. Now that we're stuck with it, and all of it's earmarks, the numbers will naturally go up as people try to adjust to find ways around.

Unfortunately, retirements are going up now of those people that had the money and did the hiring. Hiring isn't going to happen because employers must pay more in taxes and still more coming, leaving them with less money to have the extra employees. If Socialized medicine comes, it will be even worse, because employers will not hire people to avoid having to pay the health care for the fringe employees. Investors will now put more money into municipal bonds and draw their income from them because they don't pay taxes on that. I would think that the Socialist Democrats would know this already since it's exactly what John Kerry does, which is why that rich man only pays 12% in taxes despite being a millionaire several times over. Or maybe I should say his wife does since he married her for money.

The Socialist Democrats have it all wrong. Unfortunately, they aren't content to ruin their own lives, they want to take the entire country down with them and their attitude is "how dare you question us. We won."

Well, well, well. Speaking of the corrupt Socialist Democrats, the news today is that Mark Schauer has been given the largest fine in Michigan history for breaking the campaign laws. $6,000 plus he had to repay the $202,250 and the Senate Democrats had to pay a $10,000 fine. You have to love it when Socialist Democrats screw their own donors. It looks like Schauer will follow the trail of Joe Schwarz and Wahlberg and be a one term Representative in that district.

As I predicted not long ago, the Socialist Democrats are going to be in trouble in 2010. If the massive spending bill doesn't boot them out, their lawbreaking will.

Gee, busy busy day in the news. Detainee abuse has increased since Obama has taken over. / Tennessee's Governor, a Democrat, is considering refusing his states portion of the massive spending bill. /Senator Robert KKK Byrd is accusing Obama of subverting the Congress with all of his choices for czars over Cabinet members. These "czars" would be considered advisors and not subject to testifying before Congress due to executive privilege. /Wonderful little quote from VP Joe Biden. "what's that website number?"

The bad news is that the market is down 3,000 points since the election. Each time Obama opens his mouth, the market drops. Could it be that the market doesn't like socialism? Oh, how dare I consider that? The good news is that even Obama can't stop the market from coming back. The only question is how low will he drive it before it can't do anything but go up?

WTF? 95% of the American people get a tax cut and you claim "taxation without representation"?

ka_Dargo responds...

Really? Our corporate tax rate as a percentage of GDP is only higher than Mexico and Korea, as of 2005. Further, 2 fucking thirds of them didn't pay any goddamn taxes between 1998 and 2005 you stupid fuck.

2. Give the refund to the people rather than to the government to buy 800 cars for government workers.

ka_Dargo responds...

Seriously, you trivial piece of shit, this is the best you can come up with? Whiny little cunt.

ka_Dargo responds...

The wingnut house republicans voted en mass (on marching orders from latino little boy lover Limbaugh) against the stimulus bill...I seriously doubt they tried any negotiations, they just wanted to pout and play the victim, which is what they are best at.

ka_Dargo responds...

Yep, there were some who didn't act responsibly. Where is your ire for those in charge of writing the mortgages? Where is your outrage for those who pencil-whipped those mortgage approvals? And since I know you're so *eyeroll* concerned for our military members, what are your thoughts on their mortgage issues?

Also, what is it called when government assists corporations, which isn't a new thing, though you wingnuts like to say it is.

All this whining to cut spending, yet no whining when Bush was pissing it away like it was O'Doul's beer. Regarding tattoos, that's for a violence outreach program...I figure if 200k will reduce some violence, I'm all for it.

"Getting big brother out of the way" is what allowed the investment banks and the hedge funds to fuck up our economy, you anal wart.

ka_Dargo responds...
The continued whine about socialism socialism socialism is just that whining...it's been around for fucking years, most especially for the corporations. The redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthy is what fucked up our economy you mewling, partisan dipshit.

dumbfuck continues to blather on...

Yes, employers hire more people because they are flush with capital. No, dumbfuck, they hire to meet an increase in demand. If there is no increase in demand, why the fuck would they hire someone?

dumbfuck jerks another load...
Tennessee's Governor, a Democrat, is considering refusing his states portion of the massive spending bill.

ka_Dargo responds...

Let him. His constituents will vote his sorry ass out.

The market is in a state of flux right now because of all the shit that went on the last fucking 8 years, you anal bead. It's going to go up and down for quite a while I'm sure. Right now, it's going back up.

Here's a thought...anyone against the stimulus package should make sure they don't benefit from it.

If your company gets an influx of capital and is able to provide raises, you should politely decline it.

If banks are able to offer re-fi packages at a rate lower than you currently enjoy, don't apply. If you have already applied, say thanks but no thanks.

If you are a business owner and need some capital, don't apply for a loan.

If you want to become a business owner, don't apply for a small business loan.

If roads and highways you use are resurfaced, widened, or improved in any fashion, find another route.

If you can benefit in any fashion at all from the stimulus package, and you oppose it, then by god, stand up for your fucking principles and don't accept ANYTHING from it.

In the meantime, keep your Limbaugh-fueled, Hannity-inflamed, Drudge-half the fucking story bullshit to yourself, you hypocritical, cowardly, chicken-hawk, war-mongering pieces of trash.

Have a good evening.
